Freedom Begins Where Expectations End

Weekly Inspiration by Tasha Unveiled

What if the disappointment you're feeling isn't actually coming from people-but from the expectations you've unknowingly placed on them?

We attach expectations to the titles people hold in our lives: mother, father, friend, sibling. And sometimes we aren't disappointed by who that person actually is. We're disappointed because they didn't behave the way we believe someone with that title should.

There is incredible freedom in learning to see people for who they are instead of constantly measuring them against who we expected them to be.

Releasing expectations doesn't mean accepting disrespect or abandoning your standards. It means releasing yourself from the resentment that comes from expecting people to give what they may not have the capacity-or desire-to give.

Sometimes peace begins when we stop asking people to be who we think they should be and finally see them for who they are.
